Sarah Nakhumitsa

Regional Human Rights Officer, Jinja Office.
She and holds a BA (SWSA) from MUK and Masters in Social Sector Planning and Management (MA SSPM) also from MUK.
Prior to joining UHRC, Ms Nakhumitsa worked with Uganda Railways Corporation as Asst Personnel Officer and as Administrative Assistant with Meat Master Plan Study under the MAIF.

She joined UHRC in 2002 as Investigations Officer at Mbarara Regional Office until November 1st 2007 when she was promoted to a Regional Human Rights Officer and transferred to head Jinja Regional Office.Her areas of interest include: Rights of children, Peace and conflict prevention and resolution
Rights of women; and Rights of detainees

Ms Nkiganda Ida
Regional Human Rights Officer, Central Regional Office
Ms Nakiganda is an enrolled advocate of the High Court. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from Makerere University, Kampala. And a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre and Ms. Nakiganda joined the Commission as a Complaints and Investigations Officer and has got over two years’ experience in receiving and investigating human rights complaints, inspecting places of detention and research on the laws applicable to complaints lodged at the Commission.

She acted as the Director of the Complaints and Investigations Directorate for a period of about one year and is currently the Regional Human Rights Officer for the Central Regional Office.
Her areas of interest include protection and promotion of women and children’s rights
 
Mr Paul Otim
Arua Regional Office.
He holds a Master of Arts specializing in Ethics and Public Management, Bachelor of Arts from Makerere University, Kampala and other certificates in human rights related fields.
Paul was a Human Rights Officer in charge of Investigations in Moroto, Karamoja region. Karamoja is one of the most difficult areas to access in Uganda because of poor infrastructures and terrains as well as impact of inter tribal conflicts.
He also worked as Lecturer of Social Policy, Research Methods and Philosophy at Nakawa Institute of Commercial studies (NICS), Kampala, Uganda.
Paul had a brief stint doing private Research and Consultancy on Policy issues before joining the Commission.
Paul is currently the Regional Human Rights Officer, Arua Regional Office.
Paul’s areas of interest is Ethics and human rights in development, the protecting and promoting rights of vulnerable groups in society, economic, social and cultural rights monitoring and human rights awareness.

Mr. Kwemoi N.K Charles
Regional Human Rights Officer, Soroti Regional Office
Mr. Kwemoi holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences from Makerere University, Uganda; a Diploma in Education and is currently finalizing his Thesis for the award of a Master of Arts Degree in Human Rights from Makerere University, Uganda.
He joined the Commission in 2004 as a Human rights officer in charge of Complaints and Investigations.
He worked as a UNV Field worker, National Specialist/Team leader for the UNDP/UNV Human Rights Project in Western and Eastern Uganda respectively. He also worked with Ministry of Education as a secondary school teacher, founder member and Chair of the Youth Initiative for Empowerment and Local Development (YIELD), an NGO now active in Eastern Uganda. He was a trainer with Kapchorwa Civil Society Alliance (KASCOA) and Action Aid International Kapchorwa Project as well as a TOT for the Local Council Guides in administration of Justice for the LC Courts.
His main areas of interest include human rights based approaches, rights of vulnerable groups, Human Right training, research, investigations, peace work and dispute settlement.

Mr. Asiimwe Muganga Wilfred
Regional Human Rights Officer, Mbarara Office.
Mr. Asiimwe holds a MORGPSY, Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science; a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education; a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and various Certificates in human rights related fields.
He has been a Human Rights Officer and an advocate of Rights Based Approach since 2002.
His areas of interest are Human Rights /Rights Based Approach awareness & promotion, Human rights monitoring & Human Rights Documentation.
