Mr. Mwesigye joined the Uganda Human Rights Commission on Monday 3rd July 2006 as the Secretary to the Commission. He is the Accounting Officer and executive administrator of the day-to-day running of the Commission.
Mr. Gordon Mwesigye joined the Commission from private practice as a Local Government and Management Consultant with the World Bank both locally in Uganda and in Sierra Leone. He offered technical support in urban local government for Sierra Leone through the World Bank Mission and was retained by the Uganda Local Government Association (ULGA) to review the Decentralization Programme. He also reviewed the ULGA/SNV Partnership on good governance. Prior to this, Mr. Mwesigye had worked as a Town Clerk for Kampala City Council and held the responsibilities of a chief executive officer for a period of 8 years. Prior to joining Kampala City Council, Mr. Mwesigye had worked for Shell Oil (U) Ltd where he worked in Uganda, Kenya, Britain and the Netherlands.
He brings to the Commission a wealth of experience in management at the chief executive level spanning over a period of 24 years, both at the local and international level. Mr. Mwesigye has also got vast experience in managing large organizations with large numbers of staff. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Economics from the University of London (UK), a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Makerere University and has obtained extensive management training both locally and internationally.
